Dear Ladies and Gentlemen​,​ We are seeking a sponsor through the Homes for Ukraine program. We are a couple — Kirill​,​ 34 years old​,​ and Veronika​,​ 20 years old. I​,​ Kirill​,​ have a medical condition that grants me disability status​,​ so I was exempted from military service and left Ukraine legally. Please​,​ we kindly ask you not to leave offensive comments. Thank you for your understanding. We are looking for a sponsor to help us enter the country​,​ find work​,​ and pay taxes. We do not intend to be a burden on anyone​,​ use someone’s home without permission​,​ or receive social benefits — we do not need that. Our goal is simply to get to the country. We have a friend who has been living there with his family for over two years and can provide us with a job opportunity. I am from Kherson. When the war began​,​ I was under occupation from the very first days. Life there was extremely difficult: constant shelling​,​ severe food shortages​,​ armed soldiers in the streets​,​ and constant fear. After a long and dangerous period​,​ I managed to escape the city on my own​,​ as there was no organized evacuation. I moved to Odesa to be close to and support my mother​,​ who was very frightened at the time. In 2023​,​ I met Veronika. Unfortunately​,​ Odesa has also been regularly subjected to rocket and drone attacks and continues to be under threat. After nearly three years of war​,​ we realized that building a safe and stable future under these conditions is impossible. The constant danger and stress have seriously affected my physical and mental health​,​ as well as my medical condition. Veronika​,​ as a woman​,​ was becoming increasingly scared and overwhelmed​,​ and as her partner​,​ I felt it was my duty to support her and take her away from this horror. We had to leave. We had to leave urgently when the situation worsened​,​ and waiting for a sponsor while in Odesa was no longer possible. We came to Finland​,​ where we can stay temporarily​,​ and we continue to look for a sponsor. We very much want to live in an English-speaking environment and improve our English​,​ a language we have known since childhood. Therefore​,​ we are reaching out to sponsors for help. Additionally​,​ we want to work​,​ because there is no job opportunity here in Finland​,​ and the language is completely unfamiliar and difficult. In England​,​ however​,​ we have the opportunity to find work​,​ be employed​,​ and support ourselves independently. We lead a healthy lifestyle.
