We are a married couple Ruslan (45) and Kateryna (42) and we are from Ukraine. The war in our country forced us to seek protection and refuge in another state. We are looking for a sponsor under the U4U program who will help us move to the USA​,​ because we would like to start our life over. Before the war​,​ we lived in the village of Mykhailivka​,​ not far from Melitopol. From 02.28.2022 to today it is under occupation. A year ago​,​ namely in September 2022​,​ due to moral pressure​,​ searches​,​ constant fear and unwillingness to live under the power of the enemy​,​ we packed our lives into two suitcases and simply left. We lived in Zaporizhzhia for the whole year. We did not go abroad. Before the war​,​ we had and developed our small business. They even made the first payment for the plot for the car service. We bought some equipment. I worked in my own store​,​ selling shoes for children. We invested in our future​,​ which was supposed to provide for us. Ruslan has experience as an electrician​,​ worked for his parents at an agricultural enterprise. He is well versed in the repair and adjustment of agricultural machinery. He is not in the army due to health problems. He has been working in a car workshop for the last year. In the U4U program​,​ we see a chance to change our lives for the better. We want to try. We subscribed to the communities of those cities in social networks where there are many Ukrainians: we are interested in how the community lives​,​ we look for job ads​,​ we learn about salaries and housing prices. Our English is at the elementary level​,​ but every day we have online lessons. We hope that there will be progress in the English-speaking environment​,​ because language is an opportunity.
